This limited series of cubeo baskets has been masterfully woven by the Indigenous community of Tapurucuara. Incorporating their striking ancestral symbology, these baskets combine centuries of tradition with timeless functionality.

Majié translates to 'I'll share and teach something I know" - a reflection that basket weaving is intrinsic to the Tapurucuara community.

This weaving group came together with the support from the Wildlife organization to strengthen this ancestral tradition and help preserve the plants that provide fiber for basket weaving. The group is conformed by 22-members - 20 women and 2 men. Through their craft the basket weavers are gaining financial independence, whilst creating opportunities for their community and strengthening their cultural identity.

Majié's leader, Maria Estela Lima shares with a sense of pride that basketry is contributing to the passing down of ancestral wisdom to young members of the community, whilst teaching them to preserve and care for nature.
